FAQs

What is Brandwood Global?

Brandwood Global is a software company that brings together brands and content creators to help facilitate the best brand integration and product placement deals. This, helps both sides create entertainment content and build brand awareness.

What is the difference between brand integration and product placement?

Brand Integration: Financial consideration is negotiated between the brand and the content creator for a “guaranteed brand placement”. At Brandwood Global, the painful guesswork of "what is it worth" is taken out of the equation by utilizing our algorithm to get the best valuation for your project and brands get the best deals based on their budget and marketing demographics.

Product Placement: No financial consideration is negotiated. The brand provides a product by loaning or giving it to the production with no strings attached. Content Creators get a free product, but lose out on deals that may bring dollars to your production. Brands may have exposure in the production, but it is not guaranteed.

Of course, in both cases, the brand cannot be used in a derogatory manner whatsoever and money is saved on the bottom line of the production budget.

What is a Brand?

A brand is a name, term, design, symbol, trademark or any other feature that identifies goods, service, or a person as distinct and unique from others. Brand examples are Apple, Verizon and Voss Water.

How do I know if a project is right for my brand's advertising and marketing campaign?

Based on the brand profile you input and “launch” in Brandwood Global’s software, your brand campaign is matched to the best entertainment projects based on your marketing and advertising goals demographics.

Your brand campaign dashboard will provide analytics to help determine how your campaign is progressing so you can decide when to make changes or terminate unprofitable campaigns.

How do I get started?

What is a "brand opportunity"?

This is the content creator’s offer that will be valued through the Brandwood Global “Brand Opportunity Valuation Tool”™ using our exclusive matching algorithm. Imagine placing an ad in a newspaper for a specific item you are selling. Brandwood Global’s software will notify brand managers of this “opportunity” if it matches with the goals of their brand campaign. For example, if a brand is looking for a romantic comedy film opportunity, the Brandwood Global Valuation Tool will send them a notification in real-time of content creators looking for brands to include within their productions.

How do I decide how much I want for a Brand Opportunity?

A content creator can accept the Brand Opportunity Valuation provided through the algorithm or they can manually override the suggested price. Note, there is some risk in using an unvetted value that may result in not getting matches for that Brand Opportunity. In the end, it is the decision of the brand and the content creator on the final pricing.

How do I determine my marketing budget for product placements vs. brand integrations?

Product placements cost $99.00 except for the value of the product provided as either a loan out or gift to the project. Additionally, other inherit costs will be staff time, shipping, and tracking of the placement.

Brands are shifting towards “soft advertising” into product integration instead of traditional media because it more accurately targets key consumers. First, review your overall marketing budget. Depending on the consumer demographics you are trying to reach and based on general practice within the product placement industry, the range can vary from 10% to 30% of your marketing budget. Remember that integration of a brand in a production, either product placement on integration, is going to receive more attention then hard advertising by 80%.

What if I change my mind?

Up until the brand deal is finalized in a contract on the Brandwood Global website, you can change your mind. Brand integration deals once completed are binding and legally enforceable. To avoid breach of contract after the deal is signed, you need to follow the terms of the contract as customized and negotiated with you during the contracting process. Product placement deals are less risky because they have no monetary value and therefore you will not be required to place them. However, Content Creators are under no obligation to ensure the brand is included in the project.

Brandwood Global Account Managers will work with both brands and content creators every step of the way to help all participants understand the benefits and risks with each deal.

How am I protected legally?

Every deal, whether a product placement or brand integration agreement, is managed and overseen by our Brandwood Global legal team to help the parties understand their obligation to each other. Our primary interest is to create a successful match that both sides are happy within a fair environment. We work hard so that each contract is a simple, easily understood agreement that clearly defines expectations, remedies, deal points, and timelines.

During the production process, while the celebrity endorsement deal is being executed, our Account Managers work with content creator to ensure they understand the deal points they have agreed to and that a “proof of brand integration” is uploaded for review to our account manager.

What if the other side does not perform as promised?

This is called a legal breach to the executed contract. If the breach is not cured, there could be legal ramifications. Brandwood Global will work to try to prevent this by continuing to track the brand deal compliance from pre-production to post-production. On the brand side, there is little risk of breach because all brand deal funds are paid up front, but held in escrow, until compliance by the content creator. If a project does not materialize, the brand’s money is returned.

How much does this cost me?

When you join Brandwood Global you get a 14 days free trial that automatically converts into a monthly subscription, or it can be canceled at any time. Pricing.

For compensation for services provided by Brandwood Global, including closing the legal agreement between parties, we will receive 10% of the value of the brand integration deal. This fee will be paid from the brand monies escrowed for that deal. Example: $250,000 deal would be a fee of $25,000 immediately paid to Brandwood Global.

If it is a product placement deal, the administrative fee will be $99.00 for each placement, regardless of product value provided.

What happens to the brand integration money?

After a celebrity endorsement deal is signed, the brand will place agreed upon fees into the Brandwood Global escrowed account with our bank that clearly identifies the deposit for your specific endorsement. Then, all parties will await the final “proof of celebrity enrolment deal” which will be performed by the celebrity when they upload their semi-locked project that shows the deal points have been satisfied. Funds will be released upon approval by the brand after it reviews these scenes against the locked picture.

Who is a Content Creator?

A person or a company who owns the rights to a project. That project or “creation includes films, television shows, commercials, scripts, video games, virtual reality programs, and digital programs. The individual behind the project may be identified as an “Above the Line” (ATL) crew member: producer, director, writer, artist, author, designer or a combination of these titles. The term “Content Maker” is also used and has the same meaning.

Product Placement:

A placement with no financial negotiation. The brand provides product or services through loaning or giving with no strings attached. Content creators benefit through this by receiving product for your needs, however no money is made for budgeting. Brands benefit from this being seen for free, however exposure is not guaranteed. Ultimately, production saves a little in spending, and brands cannot be used in a derogatory matter whatsoever.

Brand Integration:

A placement deal with financial negotiation between brand and content creator. This creates a guarantee for brand product placement and financial budgeting for content creators. Through Brandwood Global, the painful guesswork is taken out of the equation by our valuation algorithm ensuring that both party’s needs are met.

Brand Partnership:

A placement deal with financial negotiation between brand and content creator with the addition of co-marketing strategies. Not only is there guaranteed placement and financial budgeting, there is support from outside companies to help promote across the board.

Celebrity Endorsement:

An endorsement deal with financial negotiation between brand and celebrity. Typically based on social media shoutouts/placements, a celebrity endorsement can have a huge impact on sales through targeted audience reach; age, demographic, niche market, etc.

Brand gap financing:

Brand Gap Financing allows qualified producers the opportunity to have access to escrowed funds from brand integration deals and use them as collateral for loans back to the productions. In most cases, production does not have access to brand integration funds until late in production cycle, after the opportune time. With Brand Gap Financing, up to 85% of escrowed funds can be released in order for production to have access during crucial times.
